Reference tables

Contactors — Easy TeSys DPE 9 sizes × 4 coils

UL/CSA horsepower ratings. All are 3-pole (3 NO), screw clamp terminals, DIN rail or panel mount. Built-in auxiliary: 1 NO (13-14). 24 VDC coil is BL on DPE09–38 and BD on DPE40–65. G7 (120 VAC) on DPE40–65 is rated for 60 Hz only.

DPE40 at 460/480 V: Schneider product pages show 25 HP; the 2023 catalog table shows 30 HP. This tool uses 25 HP. Check the datasheet before quoting a 30 HP motor on a DPE40.

Overload relays — Easy TeSys DPER Class 10, 1NO + 1NC

Differential (phase-loss sensitive), manual/auto reset selector, test and stop buttons, trip flag, sealable cover. Set the dial to the motor nameplate FLA.

DPE38: the largest Easy overload for the 45 mm frame is the DPER32 (32 A), so a DPE38 can only be protected up to 32 A. The 2023 catalog lists DPER01–32 for DPE09…32, while Schneider product pages say DPE09–38. Confirm with Schneider if this matters for your application.

Branch breaker vs. overload vs. motor protector who protects against what
DeviceProtects againstStandard
Branch-circuit breaker or fusesShort circuits and ground faults, protecting the conductors and equipment. Required on every motor branch circuit (NEC 430 Part IV).UL 489 breaker, or Class J/CC/RK fuses
Overload relay (DPER)Sustained overcurrent, protecting the motor windings from overheating. It can't clear a short circuit.UL 60947-4-1
Manual starter (GP2E alone)The same GP2E used on its own, started and stopped by hand. HP-rated as a manual motor controller. No remote or automatic control, and the motor restarts by itself after a power outage.UL 60947-4-1, manual motor controller
Manual motor protector (GP2E)Overload and short circuit, and it serves as the motor disconnect. Its group-installation ratings still assume a breaker or fuses upstream.UL 60947-4-1, manual motor controller

Sizing (NEC 430.52): inverse-time breaker up to 250% of the table FLC, time-delay fuses up to 175%, rounding up to the next standard size where needed. The selector also caps the size at the contactor's listed short-circuit ratings.

Multi 9 C60BP (UL 489): 1–35 A are rated 480Y/277 V (10 kA) and 240 V (14 kA); 40–63 A are 240 V only. Slash-rated breakers are for solidly grounded wye systems only. Not rated for 575/600 V. D curve recommended for motor inrush. The 45–63 A D-curve sizes were discontinued in February 2021 with no replacement, so the selector stops at 40 A; above that, use fuses or a larger UL 489 breaker.

GP2E manual motor protectors 0.1–32 A

Group-installation ratings come from the catalog's GP2E-plus-DPE table (contactor on the load side of the GP2E). Confirm before stamping a panel SCCR.

NEC motor full-load current Tables 430.248 & 430.250

Use the table current to size the contactor and conductors (NEC 430.6(A)(1)). Set overloads from the motor nameplate FLA (NEC 430.6(A)(2)).
